Responding to Eagle Rock School Blog!

When looking at other wilderness education blogs, there are plenty of organizations or groups that have blogs and posts regarding the activities they are doing and why what they are doing is important. One blog I found was from the Eagle Rock School. The school is considered a nontraditional approach to education and has a high focus on including the outdoors in their educational program.

One post in particular stood out to me. The post highlighted the importance of wilderness exposure with actually academic excellence. Mostly the post went over the Eagle Rock School's program and ideas but also went over a lot of other important information. The locked into the connection between personal growth and development that happens when kids plan and execute their own trip to the outdoors. One part of the post states "...these students are challenged to take a deep look at themselves, working on self-awareness, self-control, effective communication and tools that will help them to be successful in the Eagle Rock community." This sentence could also be written with the end being the world and not just the Eagle Rock community.

Happy Trails!
